Larkhall Athletic FC and Bath Spa University Students’ Union have announced an exciting new partnership designed to strengthen links between higher education and grassroots football in the Bath community.
The collaboration will create dedicated player pathways for Bath Spa students to progress into Larkhall Athletic’s teams, offering students the opportunity to continue competing at a high level alongside their studies. In addition, the partnership introduces discounted student tickets to increase matchday engagement, and a series of hands-on opportunities for students to support the club’s marketing, media, and community outreach activities.
A key feature of the partnership is the development of a shared disability football programme, providing inclusive opportunities for both Bath Spa students and members of the local community. This initiative aims to widen participation in sport while strengthening the club’s and university’s commitment to accessibility and wellbeing.
Joe Wilson Bath Spa Students’ Union President said:
"This partnership is a fantastic opportunity for our students to gain real-world experience, stay engaged in competitive sport, and feel more connected to the local community. From playing opportunities to marketing and community projects, it offers a wide range of benefits that will enrich the student experience at Bath Spa."
Paul Rankin Chairman of Larkhall Athletic FC added:
"We are delighted to be working with Bath Spa Students’ Union. This partnership brings fresh energy, new ideas, and a closer connection to young people in our community. The involvement of students in both football and wider club activities will be invaluable as we continue to grow Larkhall Athletic."
Jay Riccio Larkhall Reserves Manager highlighted the sporting impact of the collaboration:
"The dedicated pathway for students is a huge boost for us on the football side. Being able to identify and integrate talented players from Bath Spa into our squads will strengthen competition and development across the club. It’s a win-win for both the players and the team."
This partnership marks a significant step forward in bridging university life with local sport, promising lasting benefits for students, the football club, and the wider Bath community.
